Anxiety Disorder

Anxiety disorder is another important psychiatric disease. Everyone experiences anxiety at any moment in life. Anxiety manifests as headache, palpitation, tremor, increase urinary frequency, excessive sweating, diarrhea etc. There are various types of anxiety disorder such as Generalized anxiety disorder, Panic disorder, Phobic disorder, Stress disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive disorder etc.

In Generalized anxiety disorder patients feel anxiety in almost every incident they face in everyday life.

Panic disorder is a period of intense fear or discomfort developed abruptly and reaches a peak within 10 minutes. Fear of dying, feeling of choking, chest pain, chills or hot flushes are some of the symptoms of Panic disorder.

Phobic disorder is a persistent fear that is excessive or unreasonable, cued by the presence or anticipation of a specific object or situation (e.g. heights, animals, seeing blood).

Stress disorder can arise from experiences in war, natural catastrophes, serious accidents etc. People re-experience the traumatic event in their dreams, in their thoughts.

Obsessive - Compulsive disorder manifests repetitive behaviors (e.g. hand washing, ordering, checking etc) or mental act (e.g. praying, counting, repeating words silently).
